Recipes - Chicken Stew

Ingredients:

1.5 Kg Chicken
3 Medium potatoes ( boiled, skinned and cut into quarters) 

To Grind :
6 Onions
1 Bunch corriander leaves
1 Tsp. cumin seeds
5 Mint leaves
1 Tbsp. Coriander seeds
8 Green chillies
3 Long dry red chillies
½ Tsp. turmeric powder

Ginger

Garlic flakes
2 Cinnamon Sticks of 1"

Cloves
½ Tsp. Methi seeds (fenugreek)
1 Tsp. Kuskus (poppy seeds) (optional)

Pepper corns
1 Tbsp. Dry grapes (Kismish)
Small Ball of Tamarind

Seasoning:

2 Onions (sliced)
1 Small capsicum (sliced)
3 Tomatoes (sliced)
1 tbsp. ghee
Salt to Taste 

Method:

Clean and cut the chicken  into  pieces. Add salt and keep aside.  Grind the masala to a fine paste.  Fry onions in ghee till golden brown.  Add capsicum and fry for another  minute.  Add tomatoes and fry well until oil separates. Add the ground masala and fry till the masala leaves oil in the sides.  Add chicken pieces, add water and salt according to your taste and cook till done.  Lastly add potatoes and bring to a boil.

Serve with rice or sannas or apams.

    Stephen, it is not very spicy. You may try this recipe. If at all you find it spicy you may cut down on the chillies (3 long dry red chillies use the kashmiri chillies not the spicy red chillies.
