Bengaluru: CM directs time-bound execution of BDA’s Rs 21,091 cr peripheral ring road project

Bengaluru, Jan 18: Chief minister B S Yediyurappa directed the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) to implement the Rs 21,091 crore peripheral ring road project in a time-bound manner.

The chief minister held a review meeting on the functioning and performance of BDA in the presence of its chairman, S R Vishwanath, state chief secretary P Ravikumar and other senior officials in Bengaluru on Monday.

Yediyurappa said the state government already accorded approval for execution of the peripheral ring road project in a private partnership model.

The chief minister’s additional principal secretary Dr E V Ramanareddy, Urban Development Department Additional principal secretary, Rakesh Singh and BDA commissioner, Mahadev were also present during the review meeting.



The chief minister directed BDA to take immediate steps for distribution of sites and houses which have been constructed already and expedite completion of all projects under progress and take steps to finish them in a time-bound manner.

Yediyurappa took serious note of the menace of middlemen in BDA and directed that steps be taken to eliminate the menace forthwith. He promised to review the working of the organisation in another two months and examine the progress.

The chief minister said the state government has decided to provide developed sites to an extent of 40% of the land acquired from the farmers for taking up the layout formation plans of BDA and announced that the developed sites will be provided in the areas chosen by farmers.

Taking note of the fact that as many as 24 engineers were working in BDA performing additional duties, the chief minister instructed that steps be taken to review the performance and relieve the additional engineers if they are found to be not necessary for the organisation. Additionally, he said BDA had excess advocates in its service and said those found to be not needed out of 196 advocates must be removed from the panel.

Bengaluru has emerged as the leading city in the world and acknowledged as among the top four technical destinations in the world, the chief minister said assuring all support for providing the necessary infrastructure facilities of world-class standards.

He said the state government already announced Bengaluru Mission 2022 plan of action and would take all steps to ensure its success.

The chief minister distributed ownership rights for sites allotted to the families of soldiers who died in war in the border areas.
