Mangaluru, Aug 24: In a move to ease the anticipated festive rush, the South Western Railway (SWR) has revised its earlier plan of running a single round trip special train between Hubballi and Mangaluru Central via Yeshwanthpur. Instead, SWR will now operate two round trips of special trains between Yeshwanthpur and Mangaluru Central to cater to passenger demand during the Vinayaka Chaturthi festival.
According to a release issued by SWR, Train No. 06251 will depart Yeshwanthpur at 11:55 pm on August 25 and arrive at Mangaluru Central at 11:45 am the next day. In the return direction, Train No. 06252 will depart Mangaluru Central at 10 pm on August 26 and reach Yeshwanthpur at 10:40 pm the same day.
Further enhancing the capacity, an additional round trip will be operated: Train No. 06253 leaves Yeshwanthpur at 11:55 pm on August 26, reaching Mangaluru Central at 11:45 am on August 27. The return leg, Train No. 06254, will depart Mangaluru Central at 2:15 pm on August 27 and arrive at Yeshwanthpur at 11:30 pm the same night.
All these special services will halt at the following stations en route in both directions: Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan, Sakleshpura, Subrahmanya Road, Kabakaputtur, and Bantwal. The trains will comprise one AC two-tier, two AC three-tier, 12 sleeper class, five general second class, and two second class luggage-cum-brake van coaches.
In addition to these Mangaluru-bound services, SWR will also operate a special train between SSS Hubballi and Yeshwanthpur during the festive period.
Originally, SWR had announced a single round trip of Train Nos. 07341/07342 between SSS Hubballi and Mangaluru Central via Yeshwanthpur, scheduled to begin on August 26 from Hubballi and return on August 27 from Mangaluru Central. However, this has now been modified. The revised operation includes the following:
-
Train No. 07341 SSS Hubballi – Yeshwanthpur Express Special will depart SSS Hubballi at 3:30 pm on August 25 and reach Yeshwanthpur at 10:40 pm the same day.
-
The return service, Train No. 07342 Yeshwanthpur – SSS Hubballi Express Special, will leave Yeshwanthpur at 12:15 am on August 28, arriving at SSS Hubballi at 9:45 am the same day.
This special train will stop at SMM Haveri, Harihar, Davangere, Birur, Arsikere, and Tumakuru in both directions.
With the addition of the Yeshwanthpur – Mangaluru Central specials and the Hubballi – Yeshwanthpur services, SWR aims to efficiently manage the festive travel rush and ensure passenger convenience during Vinayaka Chaturthi.
