Puttur, Sep 22: The Uppinangady police, who undertook investigation about people involved with spreading unsubstantiated rumours which were derisive in nature about Dhanwantari Hospital Uppinangady through social websites, have found and arrested a person.

The arrested accused happens to be Murshid Abdulla (21), residing near Kemmara mosque in Hirebandady village. The police are now trying to identify and take into custody people who shared defamatory rumours about the hospital in social media.

Since some days, false information and news about the said hospital and its doctors were being spread through social websites. These were aimed at giving wrong information about the hospital to the people, it is said. Sensing a conspiracy, the doctors of the hospital had complained to the police about certain groups which were sharing these news items. Local police sub-inspector, Nandakumar, with the assistance of cyber crime intelligence team, found out the culprit and arrested him.
