Mangaluru: Finally, coastal Karnataka gripped by rainy season atmosphere

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 27: On Wednesday, all the districts in coastal Karnataka experienced good rainfall. As the rainfall continued on Wednesday night, the entire coastal belt experienced the real atmosphere of rainy season they have been longing for. In the meanwhile, there have been some minor accidents.

The city experienced intermittent rainfall. There were good rains in Beltangady, Dharmasthala, Bantwal, Kadaba, Sullia, Puttur and Suratkal. Udupi and Kundapur taluks too got copious rains. Because of improper drains by the sides of the national highway, Thekkatte village in Kundapur taluk experienced artificial floods. Several two-wheelers as such tumbled into dirty water.

The meteorological department has predicted chances of good rainfall in the coastal region for two more days.

During the day on Wednesday, all parts of the coast, and a few places in southern interior Karnataka as also a couple of places in north interior Karnataka received good rain. Gokarna in Uttara Kannada got 13 cm rainfall during this period, which was the highest in the state.

This is not rainy season at all. The rain so far is not even 25% of what it rains usually in the month of June. Very difficult days ahead. probably gau muthra is the only drink that will be left.

Getting conflicting reports every alternate day. One day it's good rainfall, other days it's shortage and summer will be problematic. Stick to one thing. Is it as expected, bad, worse, manageable?

Keep some faith on IMD, no one is perfect, after all its forecasts and not caluculator mechanisms.
