Karkala, Jun 15: In a remarkable display of promptness and bravery, the Karkala Fire and Emergency Services team successfully rescued a 48-year-old man who was on the verge of drowning in a well early on Monday morning.
The incident occurred at a property near the Karkala Bypass, opposite Mayura Bar & Restaurant in Pukkalu, Karkala. The fire station received an emergency distress call regarding the incident at approximately 7:10 am. Responding immediately to the alert, a rescue team led by station officer Chandrashekhar rushed to the location.

Upon reaching the spot, leading fireman Roopesh courageously climbed down into the well without losing a moment. He managed to locate the victim, identified as 48-year-old Narayana Bhat, who had fallen into the water and was drowning. Acting swiftly under challenging circumstances, Roopesh secured the victim and brought him safely to the surface, thereby saving his life.
The critical rescue operation was efficiently supported by a dedicated team of firefighters, including Dinesh, Bhimappa and Ganesh, along with team members Lokesh, Suresh and Raju. Vehicle driver Mujeebur also played a vital role in facilitating the swift rescue operation.
Following the successful rescue, the victim was reported to be stable and out of danger. Local residents who gathered at the scene praised the emergency crew for their rapid response and effective coordination, noting that the team's timely intervention prevented what could have been a fatal accident.
