Mangaluru: Airport customs officials confiscate gold worth Rs 27.56 lac

Mangaluru, Jan 17: In two separate cases reported from the airport here on Wednesday January 16, customs officials succeeded in taking into possession unaccounted gold worth Rs 27.56 lac.

Abubakkar Mahmud (46) from Kasargod who came from Dubai by Air India flight had concealed gold worth Rs 9.80 lac concealed in the form of paste in his underwear. Gold was found to have been turned into paste with the help of chemicals.

In the other case, the customs officials during the check of the SpiceJet aircraft which came from Dubai on Wednesday evening after all the passengers alighted, found gold weighing 549.130 grams which too was converted into paste with the use of chemicals and concealed in a bag left behind in the aircraft.

    Upto 100 gms gold should be allowed with proper receipts... It's not 1960's India its 2019 now and Indians working abroad have good jobs and saving patterns and are wealthy enough to buy and save

    Without the help of somebody such act won't possible. It's going.on from too long. To fool other's small amount gold confiscated. Looks like a big consignment already sailed out smoothly to it's destination.
    One man modiji how can stop corrupt activities...?? Earlier govt...given free hand to do so..not taken any stern action in this matter.
