As Oman was a place with no rain before, planned drainage system is not present. Repeated floods put in necessity of the drainage system to decrease the severity of natural calamities. As I heard the news in the TV I was looking for further news and photos in the internet as I was there for 14 years and that was my second home.
Global climate change is impacting everyone everywhere. Just returned from Washington DC and the United Nations where thousands of experts are working on the Global Climate change and possible impact on people and the property.Untimely monsoons, unexpected tornadoes, hurricans and tsunamys followed by severe draughts or floods will cause tremendous impact on Ecosystems as well as the animal species. Even the hurd of elephants appear desperately in areas of Coffee plantations in India in search of food and impact of climatic changes. Forest fires are destroying vast acreages of land in several parts of the world due to lack of timely rain. Thanks to the technological innovations that provide us advance wornings on weather conditions so as to safeguard lives and property in many instances. While new technologies are being sought to overcome the climate changes all over the world, hopefully God will still be kind and merciful to this "small world - a beautiful world".

Dear Santosh...six people lost their lives and in such incidents, many are not being reported..there are always casualties in natural disasters.
WOW!!! Great pictures dear Mandy.. all the more we are glad that you are following your beloved Dad's footsteps!Sorry for all those who have faced never expected calamities!
The flash floods are taking place in Muscat quite often, and if my memory serves right, this took place one or two years ago as well, and I wonder why the authorities do not take any action to rectify the situation - they should ensure that proper drainage system is place (it`s non-existent at the moment) to cater to these sort of natural calamities. After all, Oman is a fairly rich and developed country, with all the oil and natural gas resources available in plenty, and therefore, they can easily afford to spend some money on such infrastructure. Apparently and sadly, they have not learnt a lesson from the past events.
Dear amanda, good pictures keep it up.Father and daughter doing well.Take care love alistair and mamma,Bangalore
