Dubai, Dec 4: Ivan Mathias, an active Shirva Parishioner residing in Dubai has been elected president of USWAS (U.A.E’s St. Mary’s Welfare Association, Shirva), a group of Shirva Parishioners residing  in the UAE.

At a meeting held on the 1st December, 2006 in  Jimmy Dix, Move 'N' Pick Hotel, Dubai,  the committee members of USWAS gathered to elect the new managing committee for the year 2007. The committee had been expanded  at an earlier meeting. 

The proceedings began with a prayer by senior USWAS member Paul Menezes and a welcome by president Denis Gomes.

After  the  election,  the outgoing office-bearers thanked the  members of USWAS for their cooperation and requested all to work together for better unity and to strengthen the Association.

New president Ivan Mathias  also requested the committee members and members for their full cooperation and assured them of his best efforts for the unity and to continue the good work.

USWAS (Shirva) will celebrate  “Shirva Vhoddlem Fest - 2007” for the fifth  consecutive year, on Thursday, February 1,  2007 from 8.30 pm at the Poolside of Al Nasr Leisureland, Dubai. It is an annual event of the association and will be open to all. More details will follow soon.

As announced earlier USWAS will also celebrate its 4th Anniversary and X-Mas get-together on Friday, December 15, 2006 in Grand Continental Hotel, Abu Dhabi and all the invitations are already sold out.
