Dubai, Sep 13: A bomb hoax call on the Dubai-bound Indian Airlines flight created panic, sending the authorities here into a high alert.
The plane was diverted to a nearby air base where it was thoroughly searched, officials said.
An anonymous caller telephoned the Delhi office of the Indian Airlines saying some passengers in the Mumbai-Dubai IA 683 flight were carrying a bomb.
This information was promptly conveyed to the Dubai authorities which diverted the plane to a nearby air base.
The call turned out be hoax as no bomb was found on the plane after it was thoroughly searched, the officials said.
