SJEC set to host five-day 'Workshop on AI for teachers’

Mangaluru, Dec 6: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, in association with the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Mangaluru, the government of Karnataka, and the Pilikula Regional Science Centre (PRSC), will inaugurate a five-days 'Workshop on AI for Teachers' for government primary and high school headmasters of Dakshina Kannada district on December 8 at Prerana Hall, Academic Block III, SJEC.

The inauguration, scheduled from 9:30 am to 10:00 am, will feature Dr Arun Kumar Shetty, commissioner (in-charge), Pilikula Developmental Authority, and Dr K V Rao, director, PRSC, as chief guests, with Sadananda Poonja A V, principal & DDP, DIET Mangaluru, Dr Rio D’Souza, principal, SJEC, and Fr Kenneth R Crasta, assistant director, SJEC, as guests of honour. The programme will be presided over by Fr Wilfred P D’Souza, director-SJEC marking the beginning of an important initiative aimed at enhancing digital readiness and AI literacy among school leaders in the district.

This initiative reflects SJEC’s continued commitment to supporting digital literacy, enhancing teaching competencies, and advancing innovation in school education systems. By providing a platform for school leaders to experience the future of education, the college hopes to contribute toward building AI-enabled classrooms and fostering future-ready learners.

The workshop is coordinated by Jayashree M and Sunith Kumar T, assistant professors, department of MCA. The programme is convened by Dr Hareesh B, head of the department of MCA, SJEC.
