Chennai, Mar 9: The makers of the upcoming investigative thriller Kaalidas 2, directed by Sri Senthil and starring Bharath in the lead, have announced that the film will be released in theatres on April 3 this year.

The movie is the sequel to the successful film Kaalidas and is produced by Five Star K. Senthil and N. Yogeshwaran. While Bharath returns in a key role, the film also features Ajay Karthi in a leading role.

Apart from the lead actors, the film includes an ensemble cast featuring Bhavani Sre, Sangita, Abarnathi, Ananth Nag, TM Karthik and Singam Jayavel.

The project has generated significant interest among fans and movie enthusiasts, particularly because it continues the story of the widely appreciated first installment. The film also marks the return of actress Sangita to the big screen after a long break.

A teaser released earlier shows Bharath portraying a police officer who receives a distress call from a terrified woman pleading for help. The teaser also hints at a deeper exploration of crime and justice, with a voiceover suggesting that while some punishments are delivered by law, others may come from unexpected forces. It also reveals that Bhavani Sre plays a police officer alongside Bharath. The film carries the tagline “Monster Hunt”.

Sources associated with the production say the sequel will intensify the suspense and danger, delving deeper into complex criminal investigations and moral dilemmas.

On the technical side, the film’s music is composed by Sam CS, while cinematography has been handled by Suresh Bala. Editing is by Bhuvan Srinivasan and production design by G. Durairaj.

The screenplay has been written by Aravindan Anand, with art direction by A. Raja. Choreography for the film’s songs has been done by Bobby, while action sequences have been designed by Om Prakash.
