Mangaluru, Mar 10: The Alumni Association of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, celebrated International Women’s Day on Saturday, March 7, at the Mother Mary Aloysia Centenary Auditorium. The event served as a beautiful tribute to the strength, talent, and spirit of the women within the college community.
Carol Pais, vice president of the Alumni Association, delivered the welcome speech.
The chief guest for the occasion was Dr Malini Hebbar, principal of Swastika National Business School and former HOD of English, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. In her address, she served as a beacon of inspiration, reminding the students that there are no limits to what a woman can achieve. She called for a dual approach to progress: celebrating the milestones women achieve while fearlessly speaking out against the atrocities committed against them.

A significant highlight of the day was the recognition of outstanding student achievers through awards instituted by generous alumni donors.
The Agnesian outstanding leader award, instituted by Carol Pais in honour of her parents, Philip and Mariette Pais, was awarded to Ananya Madhu of III BSc; the most talented Agnesian Award, instituted by Marjorie Texeira, was awarded to Serena Saldanha of III BCom ACCA; the Best Scholar Award, instituted by Dr Meera Aranha, was awarded to Rithika of III BSc; and the Best Sportswoman Award, instituted by Daisy Coelho, was awarded to Adhithi of III BA.
The celebration featured powerful performances, including a welcome dance by the Cultural Association and a theme dance by the NCC Cadets. Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Alumni members performed an energetic line dance.
The formal programme, elegantly moderated by MC Lyra, concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the secretary of the Alumni Association, Anusha Noronha.
The dignitaries on the stage included the administrator, Sr Carmel Rita AC; the vice principal, Sr Dr M Roopa AC; the chief guest, Dr Malini Hebbar; the vice president, Carol Pais; and the secretary, Anusha Noronha.
