Mangaluru, Aug 6: As part of skill enhancement initiatives for students, St Agnes College organized a workshop titled 'Career catalyst: Robotics, innovation and entrepreneurship'. The session was conducted by Sunil Paul, co-founder and CEO of Srishti Robotics, Kochi, a company known for its work in robotics and innovation-driven education. The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from 90 students across the data science, BCA, and big data programmes.

The workshop began with Sunil Paul introducing the current landscape of robotics and highlighting the pace of innovation happening in the field. He explained how robotics has evolved from a niche engineering discipline into a rapidly growing industry with applications across manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, defense, and everyday consumer products.

He then moved on to discuss the career opportunities available for students in robotics and allied fields, emphasizing that students from computing backgrounds such as data science, BCA, and big data are well-positioned to enter this space, given the growing overlap between software, AI, and robotics.

Following the theoretical discussion, Paul introduced the fundamentals of how robots are built and programmed. He walked the students through the basic building blocks of a robot sensors, actuators, controllers, and programming logic and explained how these components work together to create functional robotic systems.

The session concluded with a live demonstration, where Paul showcased a few robots built by his team, giving students a practical understanding of the concepts discussed earlier and generating strong interest and engagement among the audience.
