Bengaluru, Oct 3: India Post has revised its Speed Post tariffs, effective October 1. The postal department said the hike is part of efforts to modernise services, improve reliability, and recover rising operational costs.
Citing growing delivery demands and the need to invest in secure infrastructure, officials said the timing was right for a service overhaul.

“The revised rates will help us strengthen delivery infrastructure, adopt new technology, and offer features like secure OTP-based handovers,” said a senior official.
Revised Speed Post tariffs (from Oct 1, 2025):
Note: GST applicable separately.
New add-on services for safer deliveries

Registered Delivery – Rs 15 per article + GST; delivered only to the addressee or an authorised person after proper verification.

OTP-based Secure Delivery – Rs 5 per article + GST; handed over only after successful OTP verification by the recipient.
“These enhancements are aimed at ensuring trust and traceability for critical documents and parcels,” the department noted.

Officials said the revised rates are necessary to sustain service quality, invest in modernisation, and meet customer expectations.
“With these changes, we are committed to faster, more secure, and technology-driven delivery,” the official added.
With updated pricing, enhanced security features, and digital upgrades, India Post aims to position Speed Post as a more efficient and user-friendly service in 2025.
