Udupi, Feb 12: A 71-year-old scooter rider lost his life in a road accident that occurred near MGM College on National Highway-169A on February 12.
According to the complaint filed with the Udupi Traffic Police Station, the incident took place around 4:30 pm at a diversion point on the highway in front of MGM College. The deceased has been identified as Gopal Moolya (71).
It is alleged that an unidentified Bullet rider was proceeding from Udupi towards Manipal in a rash and negligent manner. When Gopal Moolya signalled and began turning his scooter at the diversion towards the Manipal–Udupi road, the Bullet motorcycle reportedly rammed into the scooter.

Due to the impact, Gopal Moolya fell onto the road along with his scooter. At the same time, a Bolero vehicle, driven by Deviprasad, who was also allegedly driving rashly and negligently from Udupi towards Manipal, ran over him.
The injured was immediately shifted to the Udupi District Government Hospital for treatment. However, the attending medical officer declared that he had already succumbed to his injuries. He had sustained grievous injuries to the head, chest, and limbs.
A case has been registered at Udupi traffic police station against the absconding unidentified Bullet rider and the Bolero driver Deviprasad.

Udupi, Feb 12: A two-wheeler rider sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run incident involving a pick-up vehicle near MGM College at Kunjibettu here on Thursday, February 12.
According to sources, the pick-up vehicle allegedly rammed into the two-wheeler and fled the spot immediately after the collision. The impact of the accident left the rider severely injured.



Locals rushed to the aid of the victim and shifted him to a private hospital for treatment.
