Mumbai, Feb 12: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s brother-in-law and actor Aayush Sharma has allegedly received a threat email, police said on Wednesday. The development comes close on the heels of actor Ranveer Singh receiving a threat via WhatsApp.

According to police sources, the sender of the email claimed to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. However, officials have not disclosed further details about the contents of the message.

Though no formal complaint has been lodged so far, the Mumbai police have initiated a preliminary probe into the matter. Crime Branch officials are verifying whether the email was genuine or the act of mischief by unknown persons.

Recently, actor Ranveer Singh received a threat through a voice note sent on WhatsApp by unidentified individuals. Police suspect that members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang may be behind the threat, allegedly with the intention of extortion.

In another alarming incident last week, an unidentified shooter fired five rounds outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area, raising fresh concerns over the safety of celebrities in the city.

Police are continuing investigations into all related incidents.
