Borda, Sep 24: The Interfaith Dialogue & Cultural Diversity Cell of Government College of Commerce and Economics (Autonomous), in collaboration with Sadbhav, Pilar, hosted ASTHA – a celebration of faith & harmony to promote mutual respect, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among students and faculty. Centred on the theme ‘Forgiveness Across Faiths: Building Bridges Through Interreligious Dialogue,’ the event brought together diverse voices to explore forgiveness as a practical pathway to harmony on campus and beyond.
The programme began with an inspiring welcome address by principal Prof (Dr) F M Nadaf, setting a reflective and inclusive tone. Dr Fr Evis Fernandes delivered brief remarks, emphasizing forgiveness as a shared ethical principle across religions and urging participants to apply this wisdom in daily life, viewing reconciliation as a courageous act.


Three speakers Faiza Fathima, Radha Kavlekar, and Nyula Rodrigues shared personal insights and experiences, linking interfaith teachings to student life. They discussed resolving peer conflicts with compassion, addressing bias through dialogue, and finding the courage to apologize and rebuild trust. Their reflections framed forgiveness as an active commitment to justice, empathy, and reconciliation, strengthening community bonds.
A vibrant dance performance served as a cultural interlude, symbolizing unity in diversity and highlighting art’s power to foster connection. Interactive sessions encouraged students to share questions and perspectives, reinforcing the importance of listening across differences and recognizing every individual’s dignity.
The event underscored the transformative potential of interreligious dialogue, leaving attendees inspired to build bridges through forgiveness in their daily interactions.
