Mangaluru, Feb 16: Tension gripped the Dakshina Kannada District Court in Mangaluru after a bomb threat e-mail was received, following similar messages sent to district courts across Karnataka. Authorities rushed to the court, sparking a major security operation.
According to officials, soon after it was reported that courts in several districts had received threatening e-mails, a similar message was detected at the Mangaluru court, creating a temporary atmosphere of panic among staff and visitors.
“Immediately upon receiving the alert, we deployed the bomb disposal squad and canine unit,” said a police official. “They conducted a thorough inspection of the entire court complex, including court halls, chambers, and the parking area.”

After hours of meticulous checking, no suspicious objects were found, confirming the message was a hoax. Authorities noted that the Mangaluru court had previously received similar bomb threat e-mails on two separate occasions.
A case has been registered at the Bunder police station, and police are investigating to trace the source of the e-mail and identify those responsible. “We are treating the matter seriously, but there is no immediate threat,” the official added, reassuring the public.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns over security at public institutions, with authorities urging vigilance and prompt reporting of any suspicious communications.
