Sr Dr Prem D’Souza introduced the resource person. Anupama Prabhu in her key note address engaged the audience with her thought-provoking presentation on “Strengthening the Bridge Between Home and School.” She passionately highlighted the importance of open communication, encouraging parents to see a child’s mind not as a blank slate, but as a dynamic space eager to absorb, question, and connect.
Prabhu shared practical strategies for effective parenting, emphasizing the need to understand and support children, recognize age-appropriate behaviours, and remain calm during the emotional and social changes of preadolescence. She shed light on the common misunderstandings that stem from differences between a child’s thinking and an adult’s interpretation of their actions. Her insightful exploration of the four parenting styles authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful served as a valuable reflection for all caregivers, advocating a balanced and empathetic approach to raising children.
The speaker then answered the queries raised by parents with clarity and insight, leaving them highly appreciative of the session. The principal unveiled the guidelines and suggestions for parents and guardians, assembled in large number and thereby emphasised the need of strengthening home values for the healthy socialization of children. The floor was open for interactive session and the principal addressed the issues raised by the parents followed by the formal announcement of the newly elected PTA executive committee for the academic year 2025–26, by Zeena. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose among all members of the Carmel School community.
