Udupi: Mother killed, son critically injured after scooter crashes into compound near Nittur

Udupi, March 13: A 50-year-old woman lost her life while her son sustained serious injuries after the scooter they were travelling on reportedly went out of control and crashed into a roadside compound near Nittur on Friday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Helen Soans (50), a native of Katapady. Her son Sherwin (20), who was riding the scooter, suffered severe injuries in the accident and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to reports, the scooter carrying the mother and son lost control and rammed into the compound wall of the Babbuswamy Daivasthana located along the roadside at Nittur.

The impact of the collision left Helen, who was travelling as a pillion rider, critically injured. She reportedly succumbed to her injuries while being rushed to hospital for treatment.

A case has been registered at the Udupi Traffic police station and further investigation into the accident is under way.
