Mangaluru, Mar 13: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Darshan H V has assured the public that there is no disruption in the supply of domestic cooking gas (LPG) in the district and that no shortage is expected in the coming days.
Addressing media queries at the deputy commissioner’s office on Friday, he stated that domestic LPG cylinders are being supplied according to the established rule of one cylinder every 25 days. He urged citizens not to panic or attempt to book multiple cylinders, noting that such bookings are not permitted under the current system.

Measures against hoarding
The district administration has implemented strict measures to prevent LPG agencies from hoarding excess stock. Police officials from both the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate and the district police jurisdiction have already conducted inspections at several storage facilities.
A meeting was also held with general managers and officials from major oil companies, including IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL, to ensure a smooth supply chain. Steps have also been taken to prevent any interruptions in the transportation of LPG to other regions, such as Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu.
Production and imports
The deputy commissioner further confirmed that LPG production at MRPL continues without any reduction, as verified by the company’s managing director. Additionally, LPG imports required for IOCL are proceeding as usual.
However, the supply of commercial LPG has been temporarily suspended pending guidelines from the central and state governments. The administration expects this issue to be resolved shortly and emphasized that the problem is not expected to persist.
Essential services prioritized
Meanwhile, the supply of LPG to essential institutions, including hospitals, educational institutions, hostels, residential schools, military canteens, CISF units, and prisons, will continue without interruption.
The district administration has also requested agencies to ensure an uninterrupted supply for community kitchens at temples, churches, and mosques. Furthermore, a request from railway station authorities is being addressed with necessary priority, the deputy commissioner added.
