Mangaluru, July 7: The grand launch of Vikasit Vidya, a skill-oriented educational initiative, was held at Hotel Ocean Pearl on Monday, July 7.

Speaking at the event, MP Capt Brijesh Chowta said, “I always say Mangaluru is an ocean of possibilities, with immense potential. When I was in the Prime Minister’s Office in Delhi, I asked Revenue Secretary Aravind Srivastav about the unique strength of the coastal region. He told me that the participative nature of the people here is its greatest strength.”

He praised the initiative, saying, “Vikasit Vidya is a noble effort with the potential to scale up and become the next big thing emerging from Mangaluru. I congratulate Chethan Nayak for his forward-thinking vision.”

“The 2014 election marked a revolution, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi making a conscious effort to instil pride in our culture, traditions, and products. Let Vikasit Vidya complement the Prime Minister’s vision of a Vikasit Bharat by 2047. Let Mangaluru become the startup capital, the growth engine of the state, and a region of prosperity,” he added.

Vice chancellor of Mangalore University, Prof P L Dharma, praised the vision behind Vikasit Vidya, stating, “Chethan Nayak's vision for Vikasit Vidya is not just about overcoming challenges – it’s about innovation. His team has the strength and capability to take this initiative forward.”

He urged Chethan Nayak to expand the scope of Vikasit Vidya beyond commerce students. “It’s important not only to empower students academically but also to enhance their thinking capacity,” he said.

Prof Dharma also emphasized the need for transformation in the teaching community. “Today, we lack teachers who truly inspire or motivate students. Teachers also need to be trained in Vikasit Vidya as our educators must evolve and become impactful contributors to student development,” he added.

MLA Mangaluru South Vedavyas Kamath stressed the importance of practical knowledge over theoretical knowledge.

Meanwhile, vice chancellor Prof P L Dharma unveiled the website of Vikasit Vidya.

Founder of Chethan Nayak and Associates, CS Chethan Nayak K, spoke about the vision of Vikasit Vidya, describing it as a skill-oriented educational initiative rooted in the belief that continuous education and real-world exposure are key to personal and professional growth. “Our tailor-made programme is designed to empower individuals through practical training and skill development, thereby improving employability and building entrepreneurial spirit among students by updating their knowledge and adopting skills aligned with industry expectations,” he said.

He explained that the programme comprises practical workshops as well as mentor-led onsite, offline, and online sessions, addressing critical areas like communication, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, AI, soft skills, and more, with an emphasis on real-life application.

“Vikasit Vidya is an allied practical skill development programme suitable for learners across all streams of core education. Our initiative will help educational institutions add value to their curriculum and equip students with practical exposure as per the present needs of both employment and entrepreneurship,” he added.

Director of Vikasit Vidya, Suchitra Rao Sharma, welcomed the gathering, and Soujanya Hegde compered the event.

Also present were Rohith Bhat, founder of Robosoft Technologies, 99Games and WrkWrk; director of Vikasit Vidya, CS Swathi Baliga; and CS Ujala, partner at Chethan Nayak and Associates.
