Kasargod, Feb 12: The nationwide strike called by the joint forum of trade unions, putting forward various demands including opposition to the anti-labour policies of the Central government, received a good response in Kasargod district.

Due to the strike, KSRTC and private buses did not operate in the district. Auto-rickshaws and taxis also stayed off the roads. However, two-wheelers and private cars were seen plying.

With the absence of vehicle movement, business establishments in the town remained closed. Shops across the city downed shutters. In many places, two-wheelers and private vehicles were operating, while in rural areas, auto-rickshaws were seen plying.

As vehicles were off the roads due to the strike, the attendance of employees in offices was also thin.
