Udupi, Mar 1: The government has released a grant of Rs 5.5 crore to build a floating jetty in the picturesque locale of St Mary's Island.

In 2019, Karnataka tourism vision group had recommended the construction of a ferry jetty near St Mary's Island by the Public Works Department under the supervision of Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation. However, as it was not possible to build a ferry jetty due to the CRZ norms, Udupi deputy commissioner had submitted an alternative plan to build a floating jetty.

The government has now released a grant of Rs 5.5 crore to lay the foundation for building the 113-metre long floating jetty near St Mary's Island.
