Mangaluru, Nov 26: Campco recorded a financial turnover of Rs 1,848 crore in the FY 2019-20, said Campco president S R Sathish Chandra.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, November 26, SR Sathish Chandra said, "If not for the pandemic, Campco would have definitely performed better. But in spite of all the turbulences, Campco has managed to achieve a satisfactory result. The total production of Campco chocolate factory has touched 15,956.06 metric tonnes out of which 11652.91 metric tonnes have been produced for our own Campco brand and solid chocolates worth Rs 224 crore including export of 1,507 metric tonnes, valued at Rs 22.81 crore. Processing charges are valued at Rs 10.30 crore."

"Exclusive Campco chocolate kiosks are functioning in Puttur so that local consumers can avail varieties of chocolate products. There is a Kiosk functioning in Bengaluru too. We have also proposed to commission an exclusive chocolate kiosk at tourist places like Kodagu. In this financial year, we have released 'spice toffee' into the market. It has natural pepper and ginger as the main ingredients and has garnered a good response from the people," he added.

"Campco appreciates the members for their continued support and the patronage extended towards their institutions. We are now moving a step further and extending medical benefits to our active members in addition to the general membership. Campco has now proposed Campco on wheels for the procurement of areca nuts from the doorstep of the farmers. New products having natural active ingredients are in the fray and are expected to be launched this year-end. Campco has also planned over three products along with the differently flavoured product," said Sathish Chandra.

Despite lockdown, Campco has been in constant touch with the farmers through online meetings. Campco amidst various obstacles is moving forward successfully, facing all the challenges in its way. Keeping the interest of the areca nut growers foremost and with the hope that all will support the call 'vocal for local' and support our swadeshi chocolates in a big way.

Vice president Shankaranarayana Bhat Kandige, managing director HM Krishna Kumar and others were present.
