Patna, Mar 19: The Patna High Court on Thursday granted bail to Mokama MLA Anant Singh in connection with the murder of Dularchand Yadav.
The order was passed by Justice R. P. Mishra after hearing submissions from both sides. Following the court’s decision, Singh is likely to be released from Beur Jail in Patna within the next few days.
Singh had been in custody since early November 2025 after being named the main accused in the killing of Yadav during the Bihar Assembly election period. The incident took place on October 30, 2025, in Basawanchak village under the Ghoswari police station area of Mokama.

According to the police, Yadav—who was associated with the Jan Suraaj Party and had previously been linked to the Rashtriya Janata Dal—was fatally hit by an SUV while campaigning. However, his family alleged that he was first shot before being run over.
Investigators later identified Singh as the prime ????? and arrested him on November 1, 2025. He was produced before a court the next day and remanded to judicial custody. Earlier attempts to secure bail had been rejected by a special MP-MLA court.
After spending over four months in jail, the High Court’s decision now offers him significant legal relief.
Despite his incarceration, Singh contested the Mokama Assembly seat and emerged victorious. On March 16, he was escorted to the ???????? to participate in voting for the Rajya Sabha elections, during which he expressed confidence about his imminent release.
In a notable political move, Singh has also indicated that he will step away from contesting future elections. He announced plans for his eldest son to represent the Mokama constituency on behalf of the Janata Dal (United) going forward.
The development comes at a time of shifting political dynamics in Bihar, with ongoing discussions and ??????? moves involving Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
