Illegal cattle slaughter racket busted in Kasaba Bengre; 9 cattle rescued, 205 kg meat seized

Mangaluru, Mar 19: In a major crackdown, Panambur police conducted a raid on an illegal cattle slaughter unit operating in Kasaba Bengre and seized nine live cattle along with 205 kg of meat meant for sale.

Acting on credible information about unlawful slaughter activities, police raided a shed located near Badria Juma Masjid in Kasaba Bengre, on the banks of the Phalguni river, behind a house belonging to a person identified as Ahmed. It is learnt that a group of four to five individuals had been illegally slaughtering cattle at the spot.

During the operation, police rescued nine cattle that had been tied up for slaughter and confiscated 205 kg of processed meat along with equipment used for the illegal activity.

The accused have been identified as Kabir alias Peth Kabir of Kasaba Bengre, Badru alias Badruddin of Jokatte, and three others. All the accused fled the scene before the police arrived. A special team has been formed to trace and apprehend them, officials said.

The raid was carried out under the guidance of ACP Shrikant and PI Saleem Abbas, with PSI Shrikala and staff from Panambur police station leading the operation.

A case has been registered at Panambur police station, and further investigation is underway.
