Mangaluru International Airport gets ACI membership

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Nov 4: Mangaluru is among three airports in the country that has newly bagged the prestigious membership of the Airports Council International (ACI).

In addition to Mangaluru International Airport, Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport and Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport have bagged this honour. Bengaluru, Mumbai and New Delhi airports have already got the ACI memberships.

As part of the union government's privatization project, the international airport in the city came under the management of Adani Group from the midnight of October 30. Meanwhile, the official handing over process took place on October 31.

Both Airport Authority of India and Adani Group will work in tandem for a period of one year. Money exchange, commercial activities in the airport, profit and loss will be looked after by Adani Group during this one year of joint operation also. Airport Authority of India will give priority to the arrivals and departures of flights and take on the role of director on the whole system.

Even after one year, the arrivals and departures of flights will be managed by Airport Authority of India. This means that both the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Communication and Navigation Centre will be looked after by the airport authority. Meanwhile, security and airline staff, terminal building, runway, electrical and civil works will be handled by Adani Group.

You can not fly directly from Europe to Mangalore, Only from the Middle East.
Therefore you Can not Call Mangalore Airport an International airport unless the Runway is extended further.

Good. ...People of Coastal karnataka must demand for more international connectivity and better facilities connecting to Mangalore city, rather than mocking and taunting a rare facility of "International airport"!! available in karnatka...Mocking a taunting a development work is indication of narrow mindedness. Mangalore city and international airports and sea ports have great future..
