Udupi: Annual Sports Day held at St Cecily’s English Higher Primary School

Udupi, Nov 9: The much awaited Sports Day of St Cecily’s English Higher Primary School, Udupi was held recently.

The event took place with an array of sports activities aimed to engage all young athletes to participate. The programme commenced with the school assembly followed by the March Past. The contingents of the eight classes marched proudly. The school flag was hoisted by the PTA vice president Asha Vaz. The sports meet was inaugurated by chief guest Galnish Ashley Pinto and sports torch was received by Sr Maria Vibha AC. Glanish Ashley Pinto addressed the parents and students of the school. “We should inculcate in us honesty, hard work, planning, focus and dedication to be good sportsmen. If laziness enters, it will eat up all these five values. Otherwise one will inculcate in oneself dedication and confidence which will enable to reach the ladder of success in life,” he said. He also honoured the merit holders of the academic year 2018-19.



The drill display set the tone for the rest of the events. Once the races began the air was filled with cheering and tones of encouragement for the young athletes. The day show cased skills and exercises practised by our students. This occasion was a chance to present the talents of the students which are necessary for the holistic development.

The winners of the sports events were awarded with certificates and medals. Student representatives compeered the programme. Sr Neeta Maria welcomed the gathering. Jyothi Latha Lobo, physical education teacher expressed the words of gratitude. Sr Maria Vibha, joint secretary, Glanish Ashley Pinto, chief guest, Asha, vice president of PTA, and Sr Jecintha Desa AC, headmistress were present on the dias.
