Mangaluru: Ray of hope for unemployed youths stranded at Kuwait

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, May 31: Labour welfare organization from Kuwait visited the office of the company which cheated about 75 young people from Karnataka and neighbouring states by promising work permits, and questioned the authorities on Thursday May 30. In all likelihood, the issue will end soon with a happy note for the stranded men. They have bright prospects of returning home soon.

During the prolonged scrutiny which stretched to four hours, distressed persons, officials of the Indian embassy, representatives of the company in question and members of Public Authority Manpower took part in the session.

The organization has called for a meeting again relating to cancellation of the visas of the affected persons, on Sunday. Complaints from the affected persons and also the company have been registered with the organization. The organization will hear both the complaints, following which the issue of cancellation of visas will be discussed. If the visas are cancelled the people will get an opportunity to come back to India.

The agency had provided jobs to some of these people in food supply companies. They were given two-wheelers. These youth have been asked to return the vehicles before Sunday. Although the company representatives said that they would pay them well if they are ready to work for the company again, the youngsters did not show any interest.

Kannadigas settled at Kuwait said that if the visas of 75 people are cancelled at the meeting proposed to be held on June 2, they would be able to go back to their native places in a few days. They added that it is the duty of the company which hired them to arrange for their return journey. If they fail to make arrangements, both MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and police commissioner, Sandeep Patil, should initiate strict steps, they added.
