Mysuru, Apr 18: The district electoral officer has directed the team implementing election code of conduct to register complaint with the police under the Representation of Peoples Act against those who have uploaded a conversation that is obscene by all standards, which is alleged to have taken place between the local MP and a lady.

Pratap Simha and also the lady involved approached the deputy commissioner of the district and district electoral officer, Abhiram J Shankar, separately on Wednesday April 17 and complained to him. Pratap Simha said that vested interested have taken steps for his character assassination just hours away from polling purposefully. He has specifically sought steps against a journalist and an online web portal for this mischief.

The female complainant said that people are trying for her character assassination by using her photo in the social website without authorisation. She said that along with her photo, some WhatsApp messages and audio recording have been used to make it look like she was in relationship with Pratap Simha. She said that she had visited the office of Pratap Simha and got herself photographed with Simha and his daughter. "I had uploaded these photos in Facebook and WhatsApp by way of statuses. The miscreants, by misusing this photo, have placed it on social website for avenging political enmity against Simha," the lady said in her complaint.

The electoral officer said that he has verified the complaint made by Simha and prima facie found that the concerned have violated section 16 of the Representation of People's Act. He therefore said he has instructed the election code of conduct enforcement team to file police complaint.
