Mangaluru: Man absconding for 10 years in 2016 case arrested

Mangaluru, Aug 22: Mangaluru South police have arrested a 34-year-old man who had been evading arrest and living in hiding for nearly 10 years in connection with a case registered in 2016.

The accused has been identified as Noufal, 34, son of Haider, residing at Imperial Hotel, Karbala Road, Kudroli, Mangaluru.

A case was registered against Noufal at Mangaluru South police station under Crime No. 184/2016 under Sections 143, 147, 341, 353, 504 and 506, with Section 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to police, Noufal had remained unavailable for arrest ever since the case was registered and had been absconding for approximately 10 years. As he could not be traced, an absconding chargesheet (LPC) was filed against him.

Mangaluru South police officers and personnel subsequently gathered information about his whereabouts and launched efforts to trace him. After locating him, they arrested Noufal and took further legal action.
