Bantwal: Young scholar dies on day of housewarming feast in Sajipa Munnur

Bantwal, Apr 27: In a tragic incident, a young scholar passed away in the early hours of Monday at Aladi-Koppala in Sajipa Munnur village, on the very day a feast had been arranged for the housewarming of his newly built home.

Ameer Arshadi (36), son of Putthumonaka and originally from Sajipanadu, died of a sudden heart attack.

He had been serving as khateeb at Thalipadpu Masjidul Huda mosque for the past five years and was known as an excellent speaker. Locals said he had brought about several notable changes within the jamaath limits and had worked to create religious awareness among the youth.

It is learnt that he had recently been undergoing treatment for a kidney-related illness. On Sunday midnight, he reportedly developed sudden chest pain. He was immediately taken to a private hospital at Perla near B C Road, and later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru on doctors’ advice, but he had reportedly passed away by then.

His newly constructed house at Alampady-Koppala in Sajipa Munnur village had formally held its housewarming ceremony on April 17. A feast for relatives and friends had been arranged for Monday afternoon, April 27.

Till late Sunday night, he had personally called relatives and friends and invited them for the gathering. Those who had accepted the invitation expressed deep shock and grief over his sudden demise.

It is learnt that the house and village, which were expected to witness the joy of the housewarming feast, are now engulfed in an atmosphere of sorrow.

The deceased Ameer Arshadi is survived by his parents, wife, one son, one daughter, and a large number of relatives, friends, and admirers.
