Udupi, Aug 19: Renowned singer Vidhushi Sangeetha Balachandra, an Akashvani top-grade artiste and playback singer, is set to embark on a historic 25-hour continuous singing marathon in Udupi, marking 25 years of her journey in the field of music.
The event, titled ‘Panchavimshati’, is being organised with the sponsorship of Bhima Jewellers and aims to secure a place in the Golden Book of World Records. As part of the record attempt, she will sing Dasara Padas continuously for 25 hours.

Addressing the media during a press conference held at the Udupi Press Club on Monday, Vidhushi Sangeetha Balachandra said, “The programme will be held at Sri Puttige Narasimha Sabha Bhavana at Geetha Mandir, near Sri Krishna Math in Udupi. The singing marathon will commence at 6:30 am on August 23 and conclude at 7:30 am on August 24.”
A key highlight of the event is the presentation of 250 Dasara Padas, all of which have been newly composed and arranged musically for the occasion. The performance will continue for 1,500 minutes without interruption.
To ensure uninterrupted live musical accompaniment, two separate teams of accompanying artistes will perform on the keyboard, rhythm pad, flute, and tabla. The two teams will alternate throughout the marathon.
Vidhushi Sangeetha Balachandra noted that the attempt is particularly significant as she will be the first woman singer in the state to undertake such an extended continuous singing performance with Dasara Padas as the primary repertoire.
Having served the field of music for the past 25 years, she described the 25-hour singing marathon as one of the most significant and historic milestones of her musical journey.
Ravindra Prabhu, Gururaj, Sairam, Vedavyasa Puranik, Mohan Padre and others were present.
