Puttur, Aug 19: In a remarkable display of dedication to duty, a Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (Mescom) lineman swam across an overflowing river to reconnect a snapped power line. The incident was reported from Dhumadka in Bettampadi near here.

An electric wire had snapped and fallen into the Seere river, which flows through Dhumadka, disrupting the power supply in the region. Bande Nawaz, a lineman attached to the Bettampadi Mescom office, took it upon himself to restore the connection.

Undeterred by the strong currents of the swollen river, Nawaz courageously swam across the waterbody to retrieve and reconnect the broken line. His daring act ensured that the power supply was restored to the affected areas.

A video of the lineman performing his risky duty amidst the gushing waters has surfaced and gone viral on social media. Netizens have lauded his bravery and immense commitment to public service.
