Three killed, three critical in CNG station blast in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 19: Three people were killed and three others critically injured after a gas cylinder fitted in a truck exploded while it was being refilled at a CNG station in Tikri Kalan in outer Delhi on Wednesday, police said.

All three deceased were employees of the fuel station, according to police.

A Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officer said a call about the explosion was received at around 3.37 pm, following which six fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

Six people were standing near the truck when the explosion occurred and were subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital, the officer said.

According to police, Manish died at the spot, while Sunny and four others were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Sunny later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The identity of the third deceased was being ascertained, a senior police officer said.

The three injured persons are in critical condition and are undergoing treatment, police said.

The exact cause of the explosion was not immediately known. Police and other agencies are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
