Delhi, Aug 19: A joint operation involving the Army, Delhi Police Special Cell and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) is underway in Narela to destroy rocket launchers recovered in connection with the arrest of two suspected terrorists in Manipur, sources said.

The recovered weapons were brought to Delhi for examination and disposal. They were part of a larger cache of arms, ammunition and explosive material seized during a joint search operation in Manipur in connection with the case, according to sources.

The seized material included rifles, hundreds of rounds of live ammunition, detonators and other explosive substances, they said.

Specialised teams from the Army, Delhi Police Special Cell and FSL are carrying out the exercise. The recovered rocket launchers are being disposed of in a controlled manner as part of the operation, sources said.

Security arrangements have been strengthened around the area to ensure the safe conduct of the disposal exercise.

The operation follows the arrest of two suspected terrorists in Manipur and the subsequent recovery of a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosive material during searches linked to the case.

Authorities are maintaining strict security in and around the disposal site as the specialised teams carry out the operation.
