Mumbai, Aug 20: Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa has released his latest song ‘Marzi’, weeks after his previous track ‘Fine Shyt’ sparked mixed reactions on social media over its title, lyrics and music video.

Guru Randhawa shared the official music video of ‘Marzi’ on Instagram, accompanying the post with a Punjabi caption that conveyed a message of doing things on one's own terms.

The song received a positive response from listeners shortly after its release, with the music video crossing 3.5 million views on YouTube. Several social media users praised the track, with some calling it another hit from the singer and expressing appreciation for its music and style.

The release comes shortly after the controversy surrounding ‘Fine Shyt’, which hit streaming platforms on August 6. The song and its music video drew criticism from some viewers, particularly over what they considered an inappropriate portrayal of women working in corporate settings.

Guru Randhawa had responded to the criticism through Instagram, asking fans to calm down while describing the controversial phrase as a form of slang. He also appeared to acknowledge the social media attention surrounding the track.

‘Fine Shyt’ features vocals by Guru Randhawa and Yashvi Desai, with lyrics written by Guru Randhawa and Gurjit Gill. The music video features Ruhee Dosani, Divinity Bisht, Arshia Sinha, Raema Grover, Darlene Laura and Mehar Kaur alongside the singer.

With the release of ‘Marzi’, Guru Randhawa has now shifted the focus back to his music, with the new track quickly gaining attention among his fans online.
