Gold prices fall Rs 636 amid weak spot demand

Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 19: Gold prices declined by Rs 636 to Rs 1,53,626 per 10 grams in futures trade on Wednesday, weighed down by weak spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for October delivery fell Rs 636, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 1,53,626 per 10 grams. The contracts recorded a business turnover of 837 lots.

Market analysts attributed the decline in gold prices to subdued demand in the spot market.

Despite the fall in domestic futures, gold prices in the international market edged higher. Gold futures rose 0.10 per cent to USD 4,338.74 per ounce in New York.
