Namakkal, Oct 10: The Tamil Nadu Poultry Farmers’ Association has said there is no likelihood of bird flu affecting poultry farms in the state, asserting that scientific farming practices and biosecurity measures provide protection against the disease.
Association president and Namakkal regional National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) president Ponni Singaraj said bird flu outbreaks had occurred occasionally in some parts of India and other countries, affecting certain native chicken farms and birds such as crows and ducks.
However, he said poultry farms across Tamil Nadu, including those in Namakkal, followed scientific methods of rearing birds, with cage-based systems and established biosecurity measures.

These practices made the spread of bird flu to commercial poultry farms in the state unlikely, Singaraj said, assuring consumers that they could continue to eat eggs without fear.
He also highlighted the nutritional value of eggs, describing them as a rich source of protein, and urged the public not to be unnecessarily concerned about consuming them.
Association secretary Sundararajan, treasurer Elango, Egg Traders’ Association president Anandan, Egg Exporters’ Association secretary Valsan and several others participated in the event.
