Sullia, Feb 14: The decomposed body of a young man, who had been missing for over a week, was found inside a toilet of an uninhabited house at Addanapare in Guttigaru village within the Subramanya police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Mahabala (27), son of Gopala Naika, a resident of Addanapare.

According to police sources, Mahabala had reportedly returned home in an inebriated state on the night of February 4. In a fit of rage, he allegedly set fire to his own house before disappearing from the spot.

Following the incident, his father, Gopala Naika, had filed a complaint at the Subramanya police station.

Since then, Mahabala’s whereabouts remained unknown. On February 12 evening, local residents noticed a foul smell emanating from a vacant house located about half a kilometre away from Mahabala's residence. Upon checking the outdoor toilet, they discovered the highly decomposed body.

The family members and the Subramanya police were immediately informed. Police personnel visited the spot and conducted an inspection.

The deceased was unmarried and is survived by his parents. A case has been registered, and further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death.
