Dr Sushil Jathanna, director Lombard Memorial Hospital, in his inaugural address said, “On this special occasion dedicated to nurses, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the nurses and deeply appreciate their invaluable role in patient care and society at large. Today marks International Nurses Day, celebrated globally on the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. The 2025 theme, ‘Our Nurses, Our Future,’ highlights the critical role nurses play in healthcare. They are the backbone of every medical institution. Their compassionate presence, healing touch, and genuine care bring comfort and hope to patients. It is essential that we recognize the importance of the nursing profession, support their well-being, and invest in their education and leadership. The progress of Lombard Memorial Hospital is not solely my achievement, but a result of collective effort, especially the dedication of our nurses, doctors, and healthcare team.”

Dr Ashok District Hospital Surgeon, said, “This day belongs to you. The compassionate and cheerful care you provide leaves a lasting impact on patients. The smile on a patient’s face as they recover and return home is a blessing that extends to your entire family.”

Dinakar Amin, Central Committee member GIANTS Welfare Foundation said, “Nursing is a noble and selfless profession. Your dedication, sleepless nights, and relentless commitment to patient care are truly admirable. Today is a moment of pride for all of us. Nurses are real heroes in healthcare, not only do they treat, but they also offer emotional support and comfort. I encourage all nursing students to walk in the footsteps of Florence Nightingale and uphold the values she stood for.”

Madhusudhan Heroor, event organizer, in his presidential address said, “As we reflect today, let us consider the countless individuals who have served at LMH and the immense contribution made over these 100 days. Women, who form the majority in the nursing profession, have the power to transform the world through their compassionate care. Nurses work tirelessly, day and night, to heal and support patients. As Mother Teresa beautifully said, it’s not about how much you do, but how lovingly you do it. Choosing the nursing profession is not just a career, it is a true blessing.”
