Puttur: Illegal sand mining at Irde busted, case registered

Puttur, Jun 22: The Puttur rural police conducted a raid on an illegal sand mining operation at the Bendrutheertha Seere river in Irde village and registered a case against the accused.

According to the details, Puttur rural police sub-inspector (PSI) Sushma G Bhandari and her staff were on a routine patrol in the Irde area when they noticed sand being illegally loaded into three pick-up vehicles. As the police approached the spot to conduct a raid, the individuals who were loading the sand managed to flee the scene.

The police subsequently questioned the drivers of the three pick-up vehicles, identified as Abdul Razak, Mohammed Irfan, and Ali Kunhi. The drivers admitted that they did not possess any valid permit for transporting the sand.

A case has been officially registered at the Puttur rural police station in connection with the incident, and further investigation is underway.
