Mangaluru: Nanthoor overpass – NHAI needs to start work immediately

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Mar 20: the union government gave the go ahead to construct over pass at Nanthoor Junction on NH 66 on February 28, 2022. However, the work related to the overpass has not yet begun.

The plan for the overpass is ready. However, the dispute with regards to the land is still in the court. Even then, the tender process is done and time period is decided for the contractors to pay EMD. Work order will be released after the EMD date is over, according to project director of NHAI Linge Gowda.

One more overpass will be built near KPT junction at a cost of Rs 22 crore. Work order is already passed for the same. The process of obtaining license to cut the trees is going on as per the information given by Linge Gowda.

Chaos prevail with regards to working of signal lights. At one end, NHAI is assuring that they will begin work in a day or two. On the other, the signal system is not working. Police are confused whether Signal is going to begin working or not.

On March 18, two scooter borne people lost their lives at the Nanthoor junction. Many accidents have taken place at the junction for the past one year. Public has expressed rage over the failure in controlling traffic at the circle as well as the negligence of truck drivers.

It is purely because of leaders no action. Lazy MLAs, LAZIEST MPs. No development at Mangalore and Udupi. How long peaceful people wait for the development? These fools are very eager to declare as Smart City, without knowing the meaning.

We must always bear in mind ... HOW MANY YEARS TOOK FOR THE PUMPWELL BRIDGE TO COME UP..... We must be patient with Nantoor Junction. I list just 25 meters from the junction, we have seen large Round-abuts, Small Round-abouts, signalling system which never worked, Cameras that never serve the traffic. Next Government will change all the plans. May be there will be an underpass coming up.

These tippers are Yama trucks... Half of them old models without proper breaking systems and flat tyres... Also the drivers are too rash all the times... Unless govt makes strictest penalties that bite hard these thugs will continue unabated...

I dont understand how they will build an over-pass her, while the junction is at a height. Under pass would be more realistic.

How many need to die before the work begins? How many years to complete? Night 8.00 to morning 5.00 sleep or round the clock construction will go on? Pumpwell has created history and nalinanna will have another history in the making.

remove this circle which is in middle first step. and install signal light in four direction also. 1 ,2,3 ,4 direction place . 1. from pumpwell to nantoor. 2. from kaikamba to nantoor. 3.from kadri to nantoor. 4.from kpt to nantoor . each direction vehicles should allow one at a time . not together or nor two at a time . one at a time each direction vehicles . this is important , give 100 or 120 seconds for each direction vehicles to go . only free right or free left direction vehicles can go , but other then that not a single vehicles should be pass after from signal light. it take time to reach but hope it works in time ........

Does the Government cares for the people??? How may accidents are happening in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts daily and how many lives have been lost??? Government want Road Tax and Toll Tax unfortunately they don't care of human lives!!! Over speed of heavy vehicles and buses driving carelessly and also use of mobile phones while driving by most of the drivers is the root cause of accidents.

According to me, Flyover will not solve the problem. Our Traffic Police department must control the city, service buses, it is not possible because, they run the vehicles with timings. To cover their time they run in overspeed. Signal lights also a problem, because these city and service buses run according to the time. Private buses can't control by our Traffic Police departments. They just can't control the horn sound, then how can they control the speed ????

First start work on the Bypass road that was supposed to be constructed from kinnigoli to BC road and onwards to thokottu. A sumof approx 1000 crores was promised by the Honble minister of Highways in 2016. The work was supposed to have been complete by 2023. A bypass is the only permamnent solution and not flyovers and underpasses that will add to the problems.

whether they will build the bridge or not is secondary, why not signal lights are installed, how much will it cost in front of the corruption happening around?

Finally the Govt. gave go ahead after sacrificing so many innocent lives. This flyover should have come up before the construction of unnecessary flyovers at Surathkal and Kulur.
