Mumbai, Sep 20: Meghna Gulzar’s investigative crime thriller Daayra, starring Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor, has maintained a steady pace at the box office since its release on September 18.
The film opened with a net collection of Rs 1 crore on Friday and witnessed an increase in collections on its second day. According to Sacnilk, Daayra earned Rs 1.60 crore on Saturday, taking its two-day total net collection to Rs 2.60 crore.

Directed and co-written by Meghna Gulzar, Daayra is inspired by a true event and explores a disturbing crime through an investigative narrative. The film also features Kanwaljit Singh, Achint Kaur, Anuja Sathe, Seema Azmi, Biswapati Sarkar, Jitendra Joshi and Upendra Chauhan in supporting roles.
The film has also received attention for its treatment of sexual violence and its references to real-life incidents, including the juvenile accused in the Nirbhaya case. News18 Showsha awarded the film three out of five stars, describing it as a story that raises important and unsettling questions.
Produced by Vineet Jain and Dhaval Jain under Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios, the film has lyrics by Gulzar, music by Amit Trivedi and background score by Ketan Sodha. Saurabh Goswami is the cinematographer, while Meghna Gulzar and Charu Shree Roy have handled the editing.
