In a first, five-day Christmas celebration welcomes passengers at Mangaluru airport

Mangaluru, Dec 21: For the first time, Mangaluru International Airport here on Thursday December 21 came alive with the spirit and joy of Christmas as the five-day celebration of the global festival, hosted by the airport authorities began on a high note.

The airport has been bedecked with decorations befitting the festive atmosphere.

The artistes of 'White Doves' NGO of Mangaluru headed by Corrine Rasquinha presented a beautiful musical drama about the birth of Jesus Christ. The wonderful performance by the artistes was backed by enchanting stage setting, music and lights that perfectly complemented each other.

'C 7', the White Doves Gospel band enthralled the airport passengers and their family members with Christmas carols.

Speaking to daijiworld, airport director V V Rao said, "This is first time we are celebrating Christmas in Mangaluru airport. We have planned a five-day celebration both in and outside the terminal. CISF, customs, immigration and staff of all airlines which operate from here are ready with many performances like flash mob, Santa Claus dance, carol singing and many more surprises. Children who arrive and depart from here will get surprise gifts from the staff."

"Earlier this year we celebrated Dasara and Diwali. MIA will be celebrating more such religious, regional and national festivals to give all concerned a flavour of the humanity and unity of the region and the nation," he added.

    Great to see such a wonderful show in mangalore airport. We are at the spirit of original style of mangalore who lived in love peace and harmony amongst people. Thank you for airport authority and white doves together make such a wonderfull show for people to experience. God continue to bless mangalore and peace loving people in that region.     A nice gesture from airport authorities to allow fiveday celebration of xmas.Afterall it is a celebration of christus ,giving message to all over the world to spread peace to everyone.It is needed everywhere very badly,everywhere terror killing, and making people unhappy,homeless with their bombing ,letting them out of their country,rapes etc.People are sad,no homes.Thatswhy we can atleast make some people to bring back some smile for timebieng ,on their lips,face to forget the bad experiences.Specially children are many times take to mind bad things and sad.so singing makes them very soon happy.Thats all we need to make them happy .forget people for a while their sorrow.Even for airport staff can have some minutes leasure from their work to refresh .Very good idea .keep up.Wish you all a happy xmas and a Newyear.

    Christmas and New Year Season is a special occasion to celebrate in every possible way so that people inject in themselves a joyous feelings and spread them all across their neighbors and friends.

    The only thing that concerns us is the measure of safety precautions that are required at all times, specially at the airports, bus terminals and Railway junctions.

    Musical entertainments in sensitive areas attract public attention, and there are always some elements that can cause some mischief and bring a sudden halt on all that is being enjoyed in the name of Xmas.

    We remember, almost 4 decades ago, while we were flying from Dhahran to Mumbai on Air India flight the Christian group from Dhahran were in a jubilant mood and started singing Xmas carols on board the plane before lunch was served. Immediately, we got the announcement from the pilot not to indulge in singing. May be the pilot was right. May be the pilot had his own safety precautions and preventions known to him and not known to us.

    All are welcome to this program irrespective of caste, religion, race and creed. I being a Hindu visited it and enjoyed it and did not feel descriminated. This is proof of secularism unlike what BJP is forcibly teaching young kids in schools in UP against celebrating Christmas is proof for communal mind.
