Nottingham, Sep 9: “Naval vorthavolan,sarg vuzwadalan,sant Annache udhari maneek zalmalan”. Mangalorean United Konkani Association celebrated Nativity of our mother Mary on the 8th September St. Theresa’s R.C Church, Kingsbury Drive , Aspley Nottingham.
The Nativity feast mass in Konkani was celebrated Rev.Fr. Clifford D’Souza who later blessed the newly harvested crop brought from Mangalore. Singing hymns of praise, angle looking tiny tots showered flowers in honor of dear Mother Mary’ on her birthday. The little children will long cherish the day as delicious sweets were distributed to them.
To celebrate the occasion all gathered in the adjoining church hall. MUKAS Prsedient Mr. John Peter Fernandes welcomed the gathering and honoured the guest of the day Fr. Clifford D’Souza by offering flower bouquet. The children were entertained by games conducted Mr.Stany and Mr. Vincent and won various prizes. MUKA members came forward with entertaining skits and jokes to keep everyone involved. Milk flavored with the blessed new corn was served and later all enjoyed a traditional vegetarian food served on banana leaves.
Having a good meal all got into the dance floor to the tune of baila music. Housie-Housie was conducted by Joy and Shalini. Deepak Alvarees thanked the gathering for making the day a very special one and gratefully acknowledged the efforts of all who dedicated their precious time to prepare our traditional novem jevan and special thanks to Vincent D’souza for being the main anchor for the day.
