Flesh Trade Shocker - Girls Beware while Recharging your Mobile Currency

Flesh Trade Shocker - Girls Beware while Recharging your Mobile Currency

Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur

Kundapur, Jan 17: Mobile phone frauds have become a common occurence, but of late, another serious offence related to misuse of mobile phone numbers is being reported from the twin districts of the coastal region. Mobile phone recharge shops have been reportedly taking advantage of innocent girls who approach them for recharge coupons and give their numbers. The employees/owners of the shop or their friends call the girls on their numbers, develop friendships and later misuse them.

In many cases, girls fall prey to the michief mongers, and it has been reported that boys take maximum advantage of this, ending up ruining the girls' lives.

Shockingly, the same modus operandi was followed in the human trafficking racket reported from Kundapur earlier this week.

Police during investigation stumbled upon a scandal of a serious magnitude behind the human trafficking racket. The racket reportedly is spread over the entire state, and has its roots in the simple act of recharging mobile currency.

Amongst the arrested, three are said to be running a mobile recharge outlet. The accused reportedly note down the numbers of girls who come to recharge at their shop and use them for immoral activities. When  a consumer comes in search of a girl, the accused lure the girls with jobs and then use them for their own ends.

Later, the girls are allegedly blackmailed and trapped, and their escape route is closed.

Acting on reliable information about human trafficking from Udupi to Goa, the police team on Sunday arrested 9 members and seized their vehicles.

The court on Monday asked 7 of the accused to appear again on Tuesday by providing them interim bail, and asked the police to provide security to the two women accused. On Tuesday, the court again granted interim bail and postponed the case to Wednesday. On Wednesday, the court for the third time granted interim bail to all, as Suresh Poojary, one of the accused, failed to appear for some reasons.

Iqbal, one of the accused in the case who owns a recharge shop, allegedly noted down the phone numbers of female customers who came to his shop for recharge. These numbers were later transferred to Nayana, who is also an accused in the case. Using this number, Nayana allegedly developed friendship with the girls and used them for immoral activities by luring them with jobs.

Another accused, Suresh, would identify rich people and then reportedly send the girls to them through Nayana. This kind of human trafficking was carried out in Mangalore and Manipal, and whenever needed, even in places like Bangalore, Chikmagalur, Shimoga and other parts. Sources said that, after the Padil home stay attack of last year, the gang had reportedly taken refuge in Goa just to be on the safer side.

Police sources said that apart from flesh trade, a drugs network is also interwoven in the racket. Moreover, it is said that a woman hailing from Shimoga, settled in Karkala, has been running the racket through a beauty parlour in Mangalore. Also, investigations have revealed that a youth from Kaup who owns a mobile recharge outlet is also involved in the racket.

Interestingly, the police stumbled open the case quite by chance, while pursuing a suspect in the murder case of RTI activist Vasudeva Adiga. The police found the number of one of the suspects, and kept a tab on his phone conversations, which led to the revelation of the flesh trade together with further clues to Adiga case.

You have to go little deeper to understand our ancient wisdom.

Our 64 branches of education includes all modern science and technology, not to speak of those mentioned by you.

The people were doing their duties as per the Varna system -
    1. Brahmanas: learning and teaching
    2. Kshatriyas: ruling and protection
    3. Vysyas: agriculture, animal husbandry and business
    4. Shudras: Service

There was no concentration of power in one class as the duties were well defined.

Kings were very strict in preserving Varna system as these were the four pillars of society.

As happens to every civilisation, Varna system became weak in the course of time. There was inter mixing of duties.

Kshatriyas can not solely concentrate on their duties and became weak.

This lead to the invasion by barbaric foreigners who destroyed everything that was Indian to establish their rule.

Without King's support [Rajashrya]our science and technology could not advance and became weak.

rulers were interested only in war and enjoying life with music, dance and prostitution.

Britishers introduced Mechalle system of education aimed at destroying our ancient system of education and to brain wash the Indian youth with English culture.

Now, the duties of ruling [Kshatriya] and business [Vysya]are concentrated in one class i.e., politicians.

For example Reddys in Karnataka are both politicians and businessman. They misuse politics to the advantage of their business.

There are efforts by some individuals and institutions to develop our ancient science and technology, but that is not enough.

There should be a strong Government based on Indian values and that only can bring back the past glory of our nation.

Kalaya thasmai namaha - we shall respect the present and hope for the bright future.

As regards having more than one wife by Kings, it was allowed at that time and the Kings were balancing dharma and kama in a very prudent manner

Why should the girls take up the call poor or otherwise? people say western culture spoils girls , but dont these girls know that? dont they see whts happening around?
According to some people here nowadyas morals are declining due to western influence. but a poor family could be having better moral rt? they are hardly exposed to bad culture.
Mr Dayanad mayb u right in saying that we had better morals in olden days, i want to ask u if thts so how come British invaded us and we were slaves to them? How come there were so many kingdoms and some kings never got along?
How come a king married more than once?
How come none of our inventions by the ancient Indians are being used by us or anyone for that matter ? Bullcarts , ploughs etc are not used by us ?
why dont e use bow and arrows in war?
why dont we use aruyveda in treating fatal conditions ( maybe it can cure but y none of the ayurveda team is able to convince the world of this)?
sorry coming back to the topic, morals are always there in any society , but some will not use them thats all including Indians.
no one is forcing us to abandon our morals its us who do it why folllow someone?
Most of the good parenst have bad children its a fact u cant blame morals on it sometimes it genetic tooo. supressed gene in one generation may suddenly become dominant.

When compared to the antiquity of our civilisation, the corruption in our society is a very recent phenomena as people have become corrupt only after Independance.

If you consider the pre-Independence period, people were very honest and patriotic.

We had great leaders like Swamy Vivekanda, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Mahatma Gandhi had millions of followers who sacrificed their life and family without expecting anything.

In our childhood days, we were not locking our houses in our village as there was no fear of thieves.

Even now in our village, there is no criminal activities and girls walk through forest rout without any fear of rapists.

In USA and other newer civilisations there are more degree of violence and thieves in proportion their population, but they show only greener side of their country.

But, we ignore our own great culture and project our negative side only, putting illogical arguments.

Our political leaders starting from Nehru, are responsible for corruption, and not the antiquity of our civilisation.

It is our bad luck that the leadership did not go to Sardar Patel even though he had the support of 13 out of 16 provinces, as Gandhi chose Nehru and advised Patel not to contest.

Without a wisper Patel accepted the advise of Gandhi and it speaks of his greatness.

In Srimad Bhagavatha, it is said that even in this Kaliyuga people who are devoted to the Lord and attached to good people [satsang]are protected.

King Parikshit has given 4 places to Kali.

    1. Alcohol [Madya]
    2. Prostitue [Veshya]
    3. Gambling [Juju]
    4. Slaughter [Prani Himsa]

Intelligent people should avoid the matter connected with the above for their welfare.

Any one who speaks badly of our culture do not know the meaning of the word culture and is ignorant.

It is the present vicious atmosphere and not our culture or civilisation which is responsible for corruption.

Any Psychology professor will tell you regarding this , the turnaround can happen only if we start brain washing the young generation to be in right and to do right things not good as good may not be right always, and to Love others as they Love themselves always , If not we will become a Highly literate monstrous society ! and mostly we need to blame the soap operas which portrays Zero morality and everything is acceptable as this is “Modern World” !! I agree only thing that has become modern is communication and Transportation Which gives a false sense of modernity to us, We are still walking on our 2 legs and eat through our mouth etc etc,
On the pretext of modernity we are accepting lower Moral values so we do not want to be considered “Old / Ancient” and to be called Modern, I was totally shocked by some Old People who are also bitten by this “Modern” bug and accept all kinds of extra marital affairs, single parent, Divorces, Homosexuality etc without batting a eyelid,
So people if you need us to become a Super power in all sense , Change for the Better adopt and uphold all the old values, Principals, Integrity, Morals etc for which also our ancestor strived but left only 20% good persons behind, let us introspect and see where do WE stand among the 30%, 50%, or the 20% minority if we make every effort this 20% can become a majority one day in India without resorting to various laws and punishments!!

Mark, Udyavara! you have asked the right question the Root is in our Blood literally this is called cellular memories we inherited from our ancestor because we are one of the oldest civilization on the face of earth .
It is a well known fact the older the civilization more corrupt they are and it is passed on from generation to generation unless we take control and eradicate it from our lives totally.
    [Check this out………http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/30-indians-totally-corrupt-50-borderline-outgoing-cvc-chief-50580

    Agence France-Presse | d: September 08, 2010 17:23 IST

New Delhi: Almost one-third of Indians are "utterly corrupt" and half are "borderline", the outgoing head of the country's corruption watchdog has said, blaming increased wealth for much of the problem.

Pratyush Sinha, who retired as India's Central Vigilance Commissioner this week, said the worst part of his "thankless job" was observing how corruption had increased as people became more materialistic.

"When we were growing up I remember if somebody was corrupt, they were generally looked down upon," he said. "There was at least some social stigma attached to it. That is gone. So there is greater social acceptance."
Transparency International, the global anti-graft body, puts India 84th on its corruption perception index with a 3.4-point rating, out of a best possible score of 10.

New Zealand ranks first with 9.4 points and Somalia last on 1.1 points.

The campaign group has said that each year millions of poor Indian families have to bribe officials for access to basic public services.
Sinha told a Delhi-based newspaper in an interview published on Tuesday that 20 percent of Indians were "honest, regardless of the temptations, because this is how they are. They have a conscience. "There would be around 30 percent who would be utterly corrupt. But the rest are the people who are on the borderline," he said, adding that corruption was "palpable".
Sinha said that in modern India "if somebody has a lot of money, he is respectable. Nobody questions by what means he has got the money.!!]”
Any Psychology professor will tell you regarding this , the turnaround can happen only if we start brain washing the young generation to be in right and to do right things not good as good may not be right always, and to Love others as they Love themselves always , If not we will become a Highly literate monster society ! and mostly we need to blame the soap operas which portrays Zero morality and everything is acceptable as this is “Modern World” !! Height of hyppocracy . If girls itself lends number and ready for 'flesh trade' for quick buck , then can she be called 'victim'?!. Its funny and weird that , women always labelled as 'victim' even if she willingly does so. Getting phone number and fishing for girls is not new , so if its too much , they have option of compaining to police. But in many cases girl like strangers and relationship builds up.

"This indicates that flesh trades are happening in Home Stays.
When authorities did not take action. Hindu groups are justified in attacking Home Stays"

I disagree - because the police grip was so tight on people who were creating social disharmony, the gang shifted its location to Goa. If Home-stay was carrying out flesh trade, the goons who attacked could have proved it and would have been able to avail bail which did not happen.

Sahil has given the very appropriate explanation of how the things happen! Due to crass materialism and continuous bombarding with advertisements for gizmos, clothes, accessories etc. along with peer and societal pressure young impressionable minds go to any extent to fulfil their desires w/o understanding the consequences!!

As Sahil said, there are n number of opportunists waiting out in the world to try their luck in luring young girls using tricks like extending credit facility for recharge/new handset etc., the friendship develops, and the victims do not know how far they have gone until it is too late!!

Unless the victim is not fallen in a compromising situation there is no method how anybody can pull her into their system??

Such type of advantage taking is found in any facet of life! In today, Mumbai newspaper report two fresh cases, wherein a bank manager tried to take advantage of a young lady who desperately wanted personal loan! In another case an ortho doctor in a Govt clinic tried his luck on a lonely woman while examining her in his clinic!!

Banning mobiles, using alternate methods of recharging is not the solution and is not possible!! Rather the solution is to increase awareness and take adequate care of impressionable minds!!

One possible solution is that students, especially girls, should opt for BSNL's student power mobile plans which is quite cheap and comes with attractive sms packages and recharging can be done at BSNL Customer Care Centre which is available everywhere. Also, it is better to opt for post-paid options rather than pre-paid and payment can be made by cheque. As BSNL is central government undertaking, they are bound by rigid norms and their billing is reliable. Genrally BSNl mobile coverage is better as they have mobile towers everywhere. Another advantage is that top officers can be contacted with specific complaints and they are bound to give replies within specific period or one can go to higher authorities.

See the meaning of culture in the dictionery.

This is a criminal activity and not a culture. Then the question of eastern or western will not arise.

If you are referring to people celebrating new year by drinking and bursting crackers on the road, they have left our culture to reach the western culture, but are neither here not there. They have become EDABIDANGIS.

"Swadharme maranam shreyaha" [It is good to die in ones own culture].

This clearly seems to be a racket where the so called victims have joined voluntarily seeing the quick and easy money barring a few genuine "blackmail type" cases! Nobody is so ignorant as @Gerald/Mondankap said to get into a trap on anonymous calls. It is common knowledge flesh business is on the rise everywhere including in DK! It is common knowledge that many students and married women from respectable families too are into this business for pleasure and fast money!!

From where do we inherit such crooked and immoral behaviors. I hope we don't blame the west world for that. These mentality is home-grown. Wielding them from the root, is the only solution. Greater challenge to the nation to find out this ROOT.

Very simple solution - The recharge must be mandotorily done through scratch cards, simple vouchers or through internet. Ban the current method of providing mobile phones.

Why we do not have scratch cards or card machine which can provide PIN numbers, this will solve such problems in future. Even I had experienced that I had to leave my number in the recharge shop, however, this is embarrassing for women and also risky.

    Ms. Arundathi Rao,
Even Mr. Bhat emphasized on banning mobile phones to girls in his speech. So you guys had any follow up regarding it? If girls are conscious and aware, i dont think this kind of problems will arise. anyways, good job by cops. Respects.

People involved in this kind of criminal activities are very dangerous to the society. They should be punished severely, if possible, under goonda act.

Many on this forum criticised the speech of K P Bhat in Uppinagady last year. The speech record was availabe on daijiworld and I heard carefully. In his speech he raised the point of 'recharging scam' by mobile shop owners. You can still listen to that speech. And today, the truth has come out. Girls please beware while filling your credit to mobile

This people needs severe punishment. Also new operation teams should be formed to trace where and all this has spread.
There is a requirement to take immediate step so that these types of incidents are monitored at regular intervals.

If our police department was vigilant, many a misfortune could have been averted. Just imagine Home-stay, Drug trafficking, Flesh trade and Mr. Adiga's are to be stumbled upon together during investigation, why was the outcome so cold in Sowmya case ? Could there be some political pressure ? Too strange !

Cellular companies should introduce coupon code system where a code for specific top-up amount is issued to the customer to recharge the mobile by themselves. By this way, furnishing the mobile nos to the recharge operator can be avoided. Or people should make use of online internet re-charging.

Kudos to the police. Beware of the mobile rechargers. Recharge thru a male member of the family. Somewhere did I read Homestay incident deterred the gang? Take precautions with your loved ones instead of repenting later.

Good catch by the police but many have been trapped by this gangs. So girls be careful, by a mobile card instead of giving your numbers and recharging by these type of useless & cunning guys. Police should give them strict punishment. This as good as rape case by black mailing.
