Shivamogga: Rarest of rare – White Albino cobra sighted in city

Shivamogga, Jul 17: A white cobra or an Albini cobra which is considered very rare, was spotted in a house in the city.

The snake appeared in a house behind Sahyadri Narayana Multispeciality hospital.

The cobra was spotted in a pile of firewood and the matter was immediately informed to Snake Kiran, expert snake catcher.

Kiran caught the cobra and handed it over to the forest department.

    Good it didn't fall into some cruel hands who would have bludgeoned it; "Albino cobras are rare. It is rarer to spot an albino adult cobra. These snakes are white because of some variations in their pigmentation genes. Generally, albino cobras are monocled with an O-shaped hood pattern differing from normal cobras."
